Two exceptional learning programs.
YEARRRN Academy has two exceptional learning program models: Project YIP for in-person learning and Project YES 24/7 for remote learning extended services.
Project YIPIn-Person Learning
The instructional interaction occurs in person and in real time between teachers (both special education and regular) and student learners. We personalize each learner's journey by differentiating instruction through APEX, geared to the individual attention they need.
- Personalized instruction
- Daily attendance monitoring
- Small learning environment
- Social-emotional support
- Breakfast & lunch provided
- Home-district transportation
Dress Code
Uniform: yellow, black, pink, or green collared polo type shirt with khaki pants (black or tan). Shoes or sneakers only — slippers, shower shoes, and slides are not permitted.
Electronic Devices
A strict no-cell-phone policy covers all electronic devices with phones. If a phone is brought to school it is held until the student returns home, and the parent/guardian is called one time only to pick up the phone.
Transportation
Transportation is set up by the home school district. Student learners cannot drive to YEARRRN Academy (no bikes, skateboards, etc.).
Attendance
Attendance is taken each day as students enter the building. Late students report to the attendance office and are escorted to class. Home-school district policies apply for excused and unexcused absences.
Project YES 24/7Remote Learning & Extended Services
This program is 100% virtual using the APEX Program. Student learners choose four hours or more that work best with their schedules. We include the use of TELE-teaching, TELE-conferencing, and social media platforms where teachers, administrators, office team members, and youth service specialists work together to support each learner.
- 100% virtual instruction
- APEX Learning platform
- One-on-one tutoring
- Weekly parent/guardian check-ins
- Flexible scheduling
- TELE-counseling & TELE-help
Attendance
Class attendance is taken daily for remote sessions and recorded on the Daily Attendance Record and Weekly report. Students absent for the day are considered absent for that 24-hour window if they miss the remote session.
Family Liaison
A parent/community liaison representative speaks with student learners at least three times a week, and with parents/guardians at least two times a week.
TELE-Counseling
Counselors will speak with student learners at least two times a week to gauge situations and provide assistance.
TELE-Help
The school nurse and safety/security team will convey information remotely and be regularly available.
